Job Description We seek a collaborative and innovative computational scientist with strong background in predictive leverage of biological pathways and networks to join the Predictive Sciences team in San Diego and contribute to development of transformative therapies in cancer and hematological malignancies. This role will involve work alongside a group of computational biologists machine learning researchers and data engineers who collaborate closely with scientists in the Oncogenesis Thematic Center of Excellence to focus on advancing novel therapies into the clinic. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact origination and development of novel therapies in key diseases of unmet medical need by leveraging targeted protein degradation a novel approach to address previously intractable disease targets. The successful candidate will contribute to design and lead analysis of molecular profiling experiments for target validation mechanism of action and biomarker identification using both preclinical and clinical datasets. Keen interest and hands-on experience in the development and application of network and systems biology approaches to generate and test actionable hypothesis is imperative. Responsibilities Develop and apply leading-edge network and systems biology approaches to integrate heterogenous datasets from internal public and partner sources Collaborate as a member of cross functional teams to design analyze and interpret genomics epigenetics and proteomics experiments for elucidating mechanisms of drug sensitivity and resistance and prioritizing synergistic combinations. Perform analysis of multi-modal clinical and preclinical genomic datasets using integrative network based approaches to identify disease molecular subtypes driver mechanisms and novel targeting opportunities. Translate mechanistic findings and signatures from preclinical models to clinical application. Author scientific reports and present methods results and conclusions to publishable standard. Contribute to planning and execution of collaborative projects with leading academic and commercial research groups worldwide. Background experience & complementary knowledge Ph.D. in computational biology bioinformatics biostatistics or related field from a recognized higher-education establishment. 2+ years of post-doctoral experience in applying quantitative approaches to solve biological problems in university hospital pharma or biotech research environments. Broad experience in analyzing as well as generating actionable insights from gene expression and other high-throughput molecular profiling data. Demonstrated ability to integrate heterogeneous data sources and perform predictive multivariate analysis of integrated high-dimensional datasets. Familiarity with human interactome resources and databases (e.g. PPI regulatory networks metabolic networks) and experience with machine learning and/or network-based modeling approaches. Expertise in algorithmic implementation statistical programming and data manipulation using e.g. R/Bioconductor Python and contemporary open-source bioinformatics tools and databases using readable and reproducible code. Track record of peer-reviewed publications in top-tier scientific journals. Proven problem-solving skills collaborative nature and adaptability across disciplines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent verbal and written English language skills prerequisite.
