Overview The mission of BRI is to advance the science that will predict, prevent, reverse and cure diseases of the immune system. The Bioinformatics group at BRI plays a key role in this mission by working with other researchers to help process and understand complex datasets. We are seeking a talented, detail-oriented individual to join the team and offer support on a number of ongoing projects including: developing and operating data processing pipelines, analyzing complex multi-omics datasets, and developing web applications to facilitate interaction with data. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively with all levels of researchers, have exceptional attention to detail, and will be passionate about applying computational methods to answer biological questions. Responsibilities - Develop and manage workflows to process large datasets such as those generated from NGS. Experience with cytometry is a plus - Develop software applications to streamline established workflows and provide researchers rapid access to their data and analyses - Analyze complex biological datasets using both established and novel methods - Maintain database records of experimental samples and results - Remain up-to-date about best practices and new technologies relevant to bioinformatics projects at BRI - Share results with the BRI research community through reports and presentations - Support other researcher efforts as necessary Requirements - Excellent communication skills and attention to detail - B.S. or M.S. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, biology or similar field with a quantitative focus - 0-3 years related experience - Experience with biological datasets and quality control considerations - Experience using Galaxy to process NGS or other data sources in a high throughput environment - Strong programming skills in R, Python, Shell scripting and/or Javascript - Ability to quickly evaluate and learn new tools - Comfort working in a command line environment All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability or protected veteran status.
