Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop novel bioinformatics tools (in R or Python) and integrate them into existing genomics analysis workflows
- Create and maintain R packages
- Develop interactive tools to visualize multi-omics data/results
- Run existing NGS pipelines to analyze and visualize data from a variety of experiments
- Engage with collaborators including bioinformaticians, data scientists, computational scientists
- Communicate project methodology and results with collaborators
Required Skills:
- Strong bioinformatics analytical skills with experience analyzing multi-omics data (bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CITE-seq, ChIP-seq, WGS, WES, CRISPR screens)
- Strong proficiency in R and/or Python, and familiarity with Bioconductor or Bioconda packages and tools
- Experience developing tools, packages, or pipelines in R/Python for bioinformatics workflows
- Familiarity with common file formats such as fastq, fasta, bam, sam, hdf5, zarr, tiledb
- Familiarity of multi-omics databases
- Experience working with Linux-based servers (HPC, slurm environments an asset)
- Familiarity with command line tools and git (please provide GitHub link)
- Good understanding of biological concepts, NGS modalities, and associated statistical methods and concepts
- Machine learning skills and experience an asset
- Good data science practices
- Excellent communication skills in English including presentation skills
Education:
- MSc or PhD (preferred) in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related sciences. BSc with demonstrated experience in bioinformatics and computational analysis is also acceptable.
