Position Summary

The Computational Microbiome Sciences (CMS) group is looking for a scientist to support the development of molecular and computational assays, as well as downstream data analysis, across functional groups in R&D. You will work closely with our computational and non-computational scientists, analyzing diverse data types, implementing solutions to data science needs, and communicating work to key stakeholders.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary and supportive team and develop expertise in the generation and analysis of a wide variety of data types, including but not limited to 16S amplicon and whole metagenomic sequencing, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data.

This is a great opportunity to learn new computational biology skills, experience the biotech drug development pipeline from end to end, immerse yourself in a fast-paced and highly interdisciplinary environment, and contribute directly to an incredibly promising and emerging therapeutic field.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze diverse -omics datasets in collaboration with other computational scientists, molecular biologists, microbiologists and disease experts across R&D.
  • Visualize, summarize, and present results to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop hypotheses that can be validated in vitro and/or in vivo, and help inform experiment setup and data generation needs, as necessary.

What You’ll Bring

  • S. or M.S. with 0-5 years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related quantitative field (statistics, applied mathematics, etc.).
  • Proficient scientific programming skills in R. Experience with python, and version control systems a plus.
  • Experience with common bioinformatic tools and pipelines (bowtie2, BLAST, samtools, DADA2, MetaPhlAn2) a plus.
  • Experience with bioinformatic and statistical data analysis packages in R and/or Python (e.g., ape, vegan, phyloseq, ggplot2, matplotlib, seaborn, scipy, statsmodels, pandas) a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills; excellent team player.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple priorities and commitment to delivering on team goals.
  • Familiarity generating -omics datasets is a plus.
