Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an exceptional highly motivated computational postdoctoral fellow to join a new team at the Broad Institute to build a Human Gene Regulation Map and link this Map to Cellular Programs.

This position will be embedded in the Claussnitzer lab in close collaboration with the Lander and Engreitz labs and will seek to understand the fundamental wiring of the genome in mesenchymal stem cell lineages and build a reference atlas for discovering molecular and cellular programs underlying common genetic diseases to launch new therapeutic drug discovery programs based on these human genetic insights.

We are looking for a highly creative resourceful integrative thinker to join this team to make fundamental discoveries in mapping enhancer-promoter connections in multiple mesenchymal cell lineages understanding cellular programs at large scale and developing new computational tools to help uncover mechanisms underlying metabolic disease. Specifically we are looking for candidates who can lead computational analyses of population-scale phenotypic data from high-dimensional multi-modal single cell technologies and CRISPR-based screening tools to help understand genetic regulation of cellular programs in normal and diseased states.

The Claussnitzer Laboratory is a dynamic innovative and interdisciplinary workplace and is seeking to hire an exceptional scientist who will have the opportunity to work with people in the lab as well as the wider Broad community. Candidates in this position will also have access to various new emerging technologies with the potential towards making significant scientific contributions in various disease areas.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Collaborate with scientists and research associates to make fundamental discoveries about genetic variant to gene to cellular function

  • Perform high-dimensional data analysis for single-cell RNA-sequencing single-cell ATAC-sequencing and single-cell high-content imaging data from populations scale molecular and cellular profiling efforts as well as pooled genome-wide CRISPR perturbations screens

  • Integrate multi-modal high-dimensional data sets to infer gene regulatory networks and genetically informed cellular programs

  • Demonstrate scientific creativity and collaboration to expand computational and theoretical capabilities into new applications and identify new research opportunities

  • Train and mentor other lab members

  • Make significant contributions to scientific papers and presentations

  • Contribute to generation of computational models

  • Manage and work with multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals
