Job Description

The Lage Lab at theNovo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of DiseaseandStanley Centeris seeking a self-motivated skilled postdoctoral associate with a Ph.D. in the fields of bioinformatics statistical genetics computational biology or complex trait genetics to study the genetic mechanisms of complex diseases at an unprecedented scale and resolution. We develop and apply computational technologies to functionally interpret largegenomic datasets and to understand how genetic variation results in common genetic diseases. Key investigators involved are Jesse EngreitzMelina Claussnitzer Vidya SubramanianBenjamin NealeJose FlorezKasper Lage.

The successful applicant will join a collaborative interdisciplinary team to identify key biological processes in multi-dimensional (transcriptomic epigenetic proteomic) datasets and relate them to disease. The candidate will work closely with molecular biologists in the lab to help relate the data analyses to known biological principles in human cell lines.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to become involved in the age of biological big data and to contribute to the current revolution in our biological understanding of debilitating genetic diseases. The Broad Institute provides a vibrant research environment with close links to MIT Harvard and the Harvard-affiliated hospitals across Boston. Being a member of our team will provide the opportunity for your contributions to be utilized and recognized across the vast global network of researchers in genomics.

Qualified candidates should have:
A Ph.D. in Complex Trait Genetics Statistical Genetics Computer Science Bioinformatics Biostatistics Biology or a related field.
Proficiency with programming and scripting languages appropriate for scalable data analysis (e.g. Python R Unix or the likes).
Experience with biological data analysis (experience with genetics and/or proteomics data is a plus).
Experience in the fields of psychiatric diseases or obesity/diabetes is a plus.
