Overview

Dr. Tayobs research group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and Harvard Medical School invites applicants for a biostatistics postdoctoral position. Dr. Tayobs research program focuses on the development of statistical methods for biomarker evaluation (Tayob et al Biometrics 2016) and screening algorithms with longitudinal biomarkers (Tayob et al CGH 2015 and Tayob et al Biometrics 2017).

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians innovative researchers and dedicated professionals allies in the common mission of conquering cancer HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

Requirements

The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate with Dr. Tayob to develop and validate longitudinal biomarker algorithms to improve the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This work is highly collaborative and the postdoctoral fellow will interact with leading researchers in the field of early detection and biomarker development. Longitudinal biomarker algorithms that have demonstrated clinical utility to improve early detection of HCC could improve the poor mortality rates associated with HCC a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. These algorithms can also be utilized in many other settings and Dr. Tayob has collaborations with researchers at DFCI to explore these further.

Qualifications

An ideal applicant should have:

  • A PhD in a quantitative field such as biostatistics statistics mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Strong interest or experience in developing R packages and Shiny applications for dissemination of statistical methods.
  • Demonstrated experience working on applied research projects with non-statistical collaborators.
  • A strong track record of scientific publications.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Following application through DFCIs iCIMS portal interested applicants should email a CV a one-page description of research interests or description of a completed project demonstrating the applicants experience in biostatistics and applied research links to any past coding projects and three letters of recommendation to ntayob@ds.dfci.harvard.edu with subject line Postdoc application. The position is available immediately at DFCI in Boston.
