Computational Biologist (at the rank of Senior Technical Officer) (several posts) in Bioinformatics Core of the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences (CPOS) (Ref.: 534915) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Role

  • Apply the latest analytics tools to single cell multi-omics data and establish analysis pipelines
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with scientists and provide expert informatics solutions and training
  • Implement cutting-edge AI/ML solutions
  • Provide mentorship to a highly impactful bioinformatics team

Qualifications and Qualities

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics Computer Science Biological Sciences or a related discipline or a Masters degree in a relevant field with at least 6 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in data analytics and bioinformatics
  • Proficiency in R Python or other relevant programming languages
  • Proven experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) multi-omics or related fields including single-cell and spatial biology applications
  • Prior supervision or mentoring experience is highly advantageous
  • Experience in AI/ML with demonstrated applications in bioinformatics is an added advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated proactive and a strong team player
  • Willingness to learn and embrace new challenges
