Pay
$9650 monthly for the 705.3/712.1 level
This is a part-time position pay will be adjusted accordingly for part-time commitment.
Please note that the pay is determined by Californias Computer Professional Exemption.
Job Description
Computational Engineering Division (CED) has an opening for a Graduate Student Intern within LLNLs Flight Performance Integration (FPI) program. This opening is for a graduate level student who has received a bachelors or masters degree. The role provides the opportunity to engage in practical uncertainty quantification (UQ) research and application in an applied aerospace field within a dynamic multidisciplinary team. We are currently seeking a 10-20 hour commitment with remote work possible. Support for a full-time on-site three-month summer internship opportunities may also be considered. Pay will be adjusted for pat time commitment. For this position there is no expectation that the students graduate level work will align or benefit from this position. Research that overlaps with this positions duties and the students scholastic goals however would be considered a welcome benefit.
In this roleyou will
Provide technical and research support to efforts in applying uncertainty quantification (UQ) methods for LLNLs Flight Performance Integration (FPI) program.
Work within a multidisciplinary environment requiring investment in learning information outside of current graduate research scope.
Learn a variety of software and modeling workflows for gathering and analyzing data in support of uncertainty quantification efforts.
Conduct efforts in assigned area under limited direction and supervision.
Present work through regular presentations and meetings with invested team members.
Contribute peer reviewed software product in pursuit of UQ software workflows.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a continuing college student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or has completed their bachelors or masters degree.
Demonstrated academic achievement in Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
Ability to apply computational science and/or mathematical principles to solve technical problems.
Demonstrated effective communication skills.
Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Familiarity with python and working with a Linux shell
Experience working with computers and familiarity with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications We Desire
GPA of 3.5 or above.
