Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Amgen is seeking highly motivated, hardworking individuals who will learn to apply, design and/or implement computational algorithms and computational analysis efficiency for mass spectrometry-based proteomics' dataset. The undergrad intern will join the Proteomics team within Therapeutic Discovery, under the support of the hiring manager, the intern will work on a computational-based project with the goal of developing analysis strategies and workflow for mass spectral data. The intern project will require basic programming skill and biology/biochemistry knowledge. The intern will work with protein sequence database, mass spectrometry data, and recent published spectral prediction/machine learning algorithms. Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates Basic Qualifications Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: 18 years or older Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s or Combined Bachelor's/Master's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university Must not be employed at the time the internship starts Preferred Qualifications Degree concentration(s) in Computational Science and/or Informatics; Biology, Biochemistry and/or Chemistry. Sophomore or junior standing with graduation between December 2020 and summer of 2022 Familiar with Linux (terminal, without GUI) and Windows OS. Proficient in Python and/or Java Experience with R-Shiny or equivalent for Web application development. Experience in Omics-type experiments, such as genomics, proteomics, metabolomics.
