Job description: The Genetics and Bioinformatics team within Lilly Neuroscience analyses biological data to identify and validate molecules/pathways for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders and chronic pain. We are seeking two candidates to join the UK hub (relocating to Bracknell, Berkshire in September 2020). Candidates will primarily be focussed on performing integrative analysis of genetics and multi-omics data with the aim of gaining mechanistic understanding of disease processes and identifying therapeutic targets. They will have strong analytical skills and biological knowledge and have direct experience of handling and interpreting-omics data. As candidates will be working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, strong communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, are essential. Key skills include: PhD in a relevant discipline such as computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, computer science. Good founding knowledge of molecular biology, statistics and bioinformatic concepts. Experience in using R or Python for reproducible (e.g. R markdown/Jupyter) data analysis. Knowledge of central bioinformatic annotation databases and data repositories. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition to data analysis, responsibilities will include (dependent upon the specific skill set and seniority of the successful candidates): Consulting on the experimental design, storage and analysis of genetic and functional-omic data to be generated by internal and external partnerships. Leading collaborations with external multi-disciplinary teams. Closely partnering with internal Research IT to inform computational strategies. Lead a team of bioinformaticians.
