Key Responsibilities: Janssen Research & Development (JRD) is searching for a Senior Scientist, Computational Genomics to support our drug discovery and development efforts through the integrated analysis of large, multi-omic datasets to support early research and development efforts within JBio. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing computational methods and pipelines to analyze and interpret large-scale internal and external biomedical datasets for therapeutic development. The primary goal is to improve and further develop our target intelligence platform to include integrated analysis and visualization of genomic and proteomic datasets to better inform and accelerate therapeutic development. Design, develop and implement algorithms and computational pipelines for the integrated analysis of large scale genomic/genetic and proteomic datasets to gain novel insights and derive testable hypothesis related to therapeutic research & development. Work as part of drug project and clinical teams to understand their scientific and technical challenges and proactively impact these using computational approaches Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary project teams to design and analyze experimental, high throughput genomic datasets Lead and execute analytical strategies for the evaluation of novel targets for therapeutic development, biomarker discovery for patient stratification, and analysis of molecular, real-world and clinical data for indication discovery and drug re-purposing Qualifications Education: PhD, with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience required. Experience and Skills: Required: Familiarity with the analysis, interpretation and visualization/reporting of high dimensional omics datasets (e.g. single cell sequence assays, genotype or WGS data, proteomics data, etc.) Exposure and understanding of existing and emerging genomic platforms and algorithms Demonstrated ability to present and deliver complex results (both verbally and written) to computational and non-computational audiences Proficiency in Unix, Python, Matlab or R, SQL databases Preferred: Experience in applied AI/ML tools for the analysis and interpretation of large, multi-omic datasets Experience in statistical genetics / genomics, biostatistics and machine learning applied to solving complex biological problems Expertise in single cell T and B cell receptor sequencing and analysis Subject matter expertise in immunology, oncology and computational biology Other: Travel up to 10% may be required.
