In your new role you will lead and manage the Computational Biology Data Infrastructure (D&I) team within the Biberach part of our global organization. As your primary focus you will take over responsibility for enabling and advancing a strong data foundation along FAIR principles, with focus on -omics data, in partnership within gCBDS, IT and other functions as well as external partners where needed. You will work in close collaboration with our Computational Biology Therapeutic Area teams and with our genomics lab as primary customers within our department to ensure timely provisioning of data assets that are ready for analytics. As member of our global D&I community in gCBDS you will contribute to the roadmap for data infrastructure and governance, app development and software licensing, and drive its implementation. You will take over responsibility for managing CROs to outsource specific activities for data infrastructure build and data ingestion.
Additional tasks & responsibilities as Associate Director
In addition to the above, you will co-develop gCBDS’ strategy and roadmap for data infrastructure and app development. You will contribute to the definition and implementation of data governance processes within gCBDS as well as with partner functions in Discovery Research. In collaboration with initiatives like BI Dataland, Horizon 2030, and IU Data Foundation you will proactively contribute to the implementation of FAIR data across the Innovation Unit.
Requirements as Team Lead
PhD. in Computer Science or related field, with extensive experience in bioinformatics, software engineering and/or information management Familiarity with state-of-the-art IT data infrastructure concepts like for example data lake, graph data bases, cloud storage In-depth understanding of -omics data Profound understanding of and practical experience with data management and integration, incl. ontology management and FAIR principles Experience in leading projects and/or teams Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English and German
Additonal requirements as Associate Director
Multiple years of managing teams in a multidisciplinary environment Knowledge of regulatory requirements around data access as well as emerging trends for efficient management and implementation of data governance processes
