The Genomic Research Center Computational Oncology group (GRC-CO) at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated computational biologist to play an integral role in a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing new therapies and approaches for cancer treatment. AbbVie’s GRC is a center of excellence for bioinformatics, functional genomics, human genetics and pharmacogenomics. The GRC works across all R&D including discovery and clinical development, and multiple areas such as process sciences, global epidemiology, search and evaluation, and corporate strategy.
This position will ideally be based at AbbVie Bay Area located in South San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and proprietary oncology data assets in industry, including large-scale long-read sequencing, pharmacogenomic screening, and real-world data, to address key questions in oncology target identification, evaluation, and validation. The candidate will work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment embedded within research project teams including AbbVie computational biology community, oncology target discovery and biomarker functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating scientific questions into coherent analytical efforts, developing rigorous statistical and machine learning methods, and communicating scientific findings to internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will contribute to presentations at scientific conferences, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and regulatory filings.
