2023 Summer Intern - Computational Biology and Exploratory Analytics - IT
What you will learn
You’ll be working within the Science & Research Domain and Computational Science & Exploratory Analytics Product Line. The Computational Science & Exploratory Analytics Product Line supports scientists in omics and predictive analytics, structural bioinformatics with reusable, reproducible and interpretable pipelines and software.
This internship position is remotely. Below is a description of some of the projects an intern may expect during the course of their internship.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern, you will be working closely with the product teams on building machine learning pipelines related to key areas of scientific interest such as biomarker identification, protein - compound interaction prediction, reverse translation, patient data analysis.
Who You Are
Education
Graduate Level Only: Pursuing Masters or PhD, or within one year of having graduated.
Excellent programming skills and experience with deep learning frameworks
Has previous research experience working with biological datasets
Is capable of applying novel machine learning methodologies and approaches to questions of scientific interest.
Strong scientific communicator when presenting results to expert and non-expert audiences. Is a strong team player, working with a diverse group of scientists and technical experts.
Preferred majors: computational biology, computer science, structural biology, bioinformatics or mathematics.
Other Qualifications
Desire GPA 3.0 or higher.
Previous work experience preferred.
Student organization and/or study abroad experiences are a plus.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May and June 2023.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Final presentations of project work to senior leaders.
Lead or participate in intern committees to design and coordinate program events and initiatives.
Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $21.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
