Overview

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available to join the Jeselsohn Laboratory (https://jeselsohnlab.dana-farber.org/news.html) in the Department of Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist to work on our existing and upcoming projects. Our group studies treatment resistance and tumor progression in hormone receptor positive breast cancer the most common subtype of breast cancer. We utilize pre-clinical models and clinical samples to understand drug resistance and tumor progression. We perform high throughput cutting edge assays for discovery with extensive bioinformatic analyses followed by comprehensive validation with the goal to bring new therapeutic approaches to the clinic to improve patient outcomes. This is an opportunity to be exposed to both wet lab techniques and computational biology.

Responsibilities

  • Technical proficiency scientific creativity collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Works on problems of moderate to large scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Design conduct and troubleshoot hypothesis-testing experiments.
  • Design conduct and validate high-throughput hypothesis-generating screens.
  • Train and oversee the lab work of research technicians in the group.
  • Maintain detailed and understandable lab notebooks.
  • Interpret and discuss research findings with lab members and the principal investigator.
  • Use existing computational tools to analyze complex data sets including next generation sequencing data sets and/or fluently and effectively collaborate with computational biologists to accomplish this.
  • Develop figures to depict research findings write research and review papers and present at scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • Accomplished and motivated candidates will have a PhD or MD-PhD in biomedical sciences and those with significant experience in molecular biology and cell biology are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical skills in molecular and cellular biology including cell engineering is required.
  • Experience working with murine models of cancer is required.
  • Experience generating and using complex datasets (e.g. from ChIPseq RNAseq single cell analyses or CRISPR-Cas9 genetic screens) or experience in chemical compound screening are desirable. Clear thinking writing and communication skills are absolutely needed.
  • A record of scientific accomplishment as shown by a peer-reviewed original research paper(s) is required.
