Dr. Dongwon Lee is looking for a full-time Research Assistant, who will perform a variety of computational genomics and genetics analyses. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the basics of computational genomics and genetics. The laboratory studies disease-associated genetic variants using computational approaches with a specific focus on transcriptional regulatory mechanisms and pediatric kidney diseases. The laboratory is developing computational methods to model regulatory control of human diseases, by incorporating improved machine-learning algorithms and single-cell multi-omics data (genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic.) The RA will be responsible for: Performing quality control of genetics and genomics data. Analyzing bulk and single-cell RNA-seq/ATAC-seq. Analyzing whole exome/genome sequencing data. Performing analyses of the integrative genomics using computational tools that we are developing. To qualify, you must have: Bachelor of Science in degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. Programming skills in Python, R or equivalent are required. Experience with Unix/Linux is required. Experience with standard genetics/genomics software, such as bowtie, bwa, GATK, ANNOVAR, RSEM, kallisto, MACS2, DESeq2, and Plink, is highly preferred. Experience with working with large genetic and genomic data in a cluster-computing environment is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This is a full-time position; however, the department is willing to consider applicants with part-time availability. Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
