JOB DESCRIPTION

The Position

The Computational Biophysics group within PTDU has an opening for a talented scientist to help shape the implementation and application of computational tools and algorithms to accelerate candidate selection and developability risk assessment. Our group uses computer modeling and simulations to study the dynamical behavior and properties of different protein modalities, with the ultimate aim of better understanding the developability risks, guiding candidate selection, and providing molecule re-engineering insights to improve stability.  We work closely with different groups throughout Pharma Technical Development (PTD) and our Research organization.  The successful candidate will participate in our vision toward further and smoother integration of in-silico develop-ability prediction tools within the organization, from helping with processing new modeling requests to developing new methods and tools to address the modeling needs for next generation biologic drugs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in physics, chemistry, materials science, bioinformatics, computational science or a related discipline, with 3-4 years of experience after their Bachelor’s Degree

  • Proficiency in at least one modern computer programming language such as Python and bash scripting, and data visualization tools like matplotlib, seaborn

  • Strong familiarity with topics of protein and macromolecular structures and their physical and chemical stability properties

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

  • A drive to learn and master new computational skills.

  • Familiarity with high-performance scientific computing and the Linux environment is a plus.

  • Experience with at least one of the commonly used molecular modeling and simulation packages such as MOE or Pymol is desired.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams
