Overview: As a postdoctoral researcher, you will help solve some of the most challenging problems this country faces. You will perform ground breaking research on a wide range of significant problems. This position will bring novel thinking, teamwork, and discovery to the challenge of finding new approaches for analyzing massive data, collaborating with worldwide experts, and publishing innovative results. The Computational Data Analytics (CDA) Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory is a computer and data science research group. We hire top researchers who are ready to tackle the hardest problems faced by the country and the world. These problems include exploring computing beyond Moore’s Law, discovering new data analytics methods using neuromorphic, quantum, and high-performance computing, and exploring the boundaries between neuromorphic and quantum computing. CDA scientists are changing the world with their research. Major Duties/Responsibilities: Research and develop new and novel methods in neuromorphic and high-performance computing Build strong collaborations Publish ground breaking research Basic Requirements: Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field A broad understanding of the application aspects of neuromorphic computing Preferred Qualifications: Development experience with neuromorphic hardware Hands on experience with very large data sets, high performance computing, and unstructured data Knowledge of quantum computing Note: This position does not require a DOE Clearance currently. The ability to obtain a DOE clearance, however, would be beneficial to participate or lead classified projects that may be awarded in the future. Additional Information: Applicants cannot have received their Ph.D. more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. The appointment length will be up to 24 months with the potential for extension. Initial appointments and extensions are subject to performance and availability of funding.
