RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS). Position summary The Bailey Lab is a computational / genomics lab and part of the Thoracic Surgery and Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Laboratories (http://thoracicsurgery.lab.mcgill.ca) at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Cancer Genomics. Current areas of interest in the lab include: (1) identification of molecular biomarkers predicting progression to metastases from esophageal and gastric cancers, (2) The role of non-coding regulatory elements in driving metastases and, (3) Computational approaches to assess the impact of non-coding somatic alterations. General Duties Although, several projects exist the successful candidate can have substantial input into their specific project. • Design and perform studies, analyze data, • Supervise and train students, • Assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts and grant applications, • Present work at internal, local, national and international meetings. Website of the organization https://rimuhc.ca/en Education / Experience The successful candidate will be a recent PhD graduate (less than 2 years of postdoctoral experience) from a quantitative field, such as: genetics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related discipline. The candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and a track record of scientific accomplishment via peer-reviewed publications. Wet-lab scientists with experience performing their own computational analyses are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have: • Experience working in a Unix environment (e.g. shell scripting, using command-line tools), • Experience conducting genomic data analyses (e.g. WES, WGS, ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq), • Experience in statistical analyses with R, • Proficiency in a programming/scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python), • Knowledge of cancer biology is considered an asset.
