Seeking an outstanding individual to join the Cazer Lab and Master of Public Health research group in the Population Medicine & Diagnostic Sciences Department, Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, as a postdoctoral associate in the area of COVID-19 and antimicrobial resistance surveillance. The Cazer Lab investigates the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance with methods from computational biology, machine learning, and statistics. There are two primary responsibilities of this postdoctoral associate position: To support COVID-19 surveillance at Cornell University To research antimicrobial resistance epidemiology using national and local surveillance datasets In collaboration with the PI and the Master of Public Health research group, investigate the epidemiology of COVID-19 spread in a university setting using testing and syndromic surveillance data. Participate in the design and implementation of COVID-19 surveillance metrics and subsequent data analysis. Investigate the impact of behavioral and administrative interventions on COVID-19 dynamics. There may be opportunities to participate in COVID-19 mathematical modeling. The postdoctoral associate will also contribute to research on the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in human and animal populations. Projects may include developing quantitative methods for monitoring multidrug resistance, exploring the utility of clinical laboratory data for surveillance, and investigating co-selection of multiple antimicrobial resistances with surveillance and clinical data. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline or a health professional doctorate (e.g. DVM, MD) with experience in one of these fields. Must be able to work independently and as part of a diverse, interdisciplinary team. Strong analytic and written communication skills are required. This is a 1-year, full-time appointment with a potential for extension contingent on funding and successful performance.
