Data Scientist Computational Genomics 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The primary responsibilities of this role Data Scientist Computational Genomics are to:

  • Provide technical contributions in a fast paced team environment toaccelerate our efforts on building an analytics driven product pipeline

using phenomic epigenomic genomic and transcriptomic data;

  • Independently perform statistical analysis computer programming andexperimental design;
  • Build cross functional relationships to collaboratively partner withthe business;
  • Use advanced computational approaches statistical models operationsresearch techniques and strong business acumen to deliver insight

recommendations and solutions;

  • Contribute to the development of code bioinformatic analysespipelines computational tools and databases for mining connecting

and visualizing large phenomic epigenomic genomic and transcriptomicdata sets;

  • Develop sustainable consumable accurate and impactful reporting onanalysis inputs analysis outputs observed outputs business impact

and key performance indicators;

  • Present compelling validated stories to all levels of organizationincluding peers senior management and internal customers to drive both

strategic and operational changes in business.

Domestic relocation as well as vise sponsorship is available.

WHO YOU ARE

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE (Leadership Integrity Flexibility Efficiency) values. More specifically related to this position Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • Educational preparation or applied experience in at least one of thefollowing areas: Functional Genomics Genomics Computational BiologyStatistical Genetics Statistics Biostatistics BioinformaticsApplied Mathematics Computer Science or other related quantitative

discipline;

  • A background in plant pathology is preferred but not essential;
  • Demonstrates intermediate proficiency in computational skills andlevel of experience building data models and data analysis using R

Python or other statistical or mathematical programming packages;

  • Strong proficiency in multi omic comparative approaches and technicaland biological pitfalls;
  • Strong awareness of sequencing technologies and applicability toanswer biological questions;
  • Intermediate proficiency in genomic prediction and predictingmodeling and concepts;
  • Experience in successful delivery of valuable analysis throughapplication of domain knowledge; evidence of ability to strong business

acumen;

  • Strong communication competencies to include presentations anddelivery of complex quantitative analyses in a clear concise and

actionable manner to extended team and small groups of key stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree with at least five (5) years of post graduateexperience in field or Master s degree with at least two (2) years of

experience or Ph.D.;

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $110000.00 (or between $98000.00 to $145000.00). Additional compensation may include abonus or commission (if relevant).
