Applications are invited for appointment as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 516823), to commence as soon as possible for one to two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in computational biology, computer science, mathematical biology or statistics, with expertise in phylogenetics, molecular epidemiology and bioinformatics. They should have a strong interest in infectious disease research, a good command of written and spoken English, excellent communication skills, and a strong track record of research as indicated by publication record.

The appointee will work closely with Dr. Dhanasekaran and other team members in the Pathogen Evolution lab on applying phylodynamics to rapidly evolving human viruses such as influenza and SARS-CoV-2 to study the interaction of human immunity with virus evolution. He/She will use sequence and epidemiological data from cohort studies and systematic surveillance, outbreak investigations and computational methods to link genomic data with other ecological, epidemiological, and immunological datasets. He/She will contribute to virus surveillance and genome sequencing project design and implementation in collaboration with international experts in the field. Enquiries of the duties of the post should be sent to veej@hku.hk.
