Computational Scientist (PhD) In expanding our R&D team, we are seeking Computational Scientists with expertise in a relevant field of the Life Sciences or Chemistry, including: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Toxicology, or Organic Chemistry. Computational Scientists develop new scientific functionality; visualizations; interactive analysis tools; enhance ML models with new data or algorithms; and evaluate the quality of predictions. They are experts in their scientific domain and skilled programmers. Positions are open to Ph.D. graduates that have experience applying computational approaches to protein structures, small molecule drugs, or other drug modalities. The successful candidate is expected to (i) have a strong understanding of proteomics and/or protein-drug interactions; (ii) have solid experience in performing statistical analysis to large or complex datasets; (iii) be a skilled programmer in Python / Javascript; and (iv) have an enthusiastic, flexible mindset towards varied types of projects. The successful candidate will receive guidance and mentorship from existing staff scientists with similar technical skill sets. Responsibilities Collaborate with peer computational scientists and software developers on tasks related interpreting drug-target interactions and ai-based drug design. Maintain and build upon databases of protein- and/or drug- related information, including data sanitization and automatic updaters. Innovate new data representations that efficiently encode scientific information from various facets of chemical structures and proteins. Implement back-end and front-end features into Cyclica’s existing software platform, including predictive algorithms and visualization/analysis tools. Remain up to date on trends in Computational Biology and methodology used to explore proteomics and drug-target interactions. Disseminate results of projects to staff scientists as well as non-scientific staff when necessary. Write production-quality code in accordance with company standards. Assist in communicating research findings in validation notes, case studies, publications, patents, and other forms of documentation. A general understanding of modern computational techniques in molecular biology and chemistry, including: protein-ligand docking, protein-protein docking, molecular dynamics, coarse-grained simulations, structural alignments/superpositions, generative approaches for producing drug-like small molecule structures, QSAR predictions, molecular fingerprinting and other ways to represent molecules, the SMILES format, etc. A general understanding of modern machine learning techniques and principles including unsupervised and supervised learning, model validation, featurization, relevant pythonic libraries, and associated software engineering principles 2+ years experience with Python, including knowledge of best practices Scientific programming experience, notably: numpy, scipy, scikit-learn Experience with Javascript or React Scientific programming experience, notably: numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, biopython Experience with Data Visualization, notably: tidyverse (ggplot), plotly, matplotlib Experience developing code collaboratively Experience with cloud computing and storage A general understanding of SLCD standards and best practices Strong organizational and communication skills Please email a resume to careers@cyclicarx.com.
