The candidate will work with our translational development teams by learning and contributing to the development and application of computational tools to interrogate large data sets comprising multi-omics (genomics/transcriptomics) from hematological cancer patients towards predictive biomarkers of response or resistance. The successful candidate will have an emerging skillset of computational biology tools as well as some familiarity with programs employed in this space (R, Python, Spotfire, etc.) Also considered as a plus is a working knowledge of the laboratory setting as well as an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. While the position is broadly hematology-oncology encompassing, the position here will primarily focus on analyses of large data sets from patients with multiple myeloma. Key Responsibilities Emerging knowledge of computational programs and tools regularly utilized in the analysis of large satasets (R, Python, Spotfire, Plotly, Shiny, etc.) Interpret and discuss data under supervision Troubleshoot Background reading to understand project Understand the context, impact and timely communication of data. Search literature for targeted information. Understand and execute on role tasks. Meticulous record keeping Willingly share information and resources Cultivate positive and productive working relationships with colleagues Interact with manager and project team to review data and plan next steps Prepare and present work at group meetings Flexible to changing priorities Respectful of confidentiality of patient data Qualifications & Experience Reviewing literature for technical and scientific support Basic knowledge of cancer cell biology preferable Curiosity and quick to learn laboratory procedures and instrumentation, including cell culture, basic cellular assays (e.g. proliferation/apoptosis), immunofluorescence, western blot, RT-PCR. Detail-oriented Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently Excellent oral and written communication skills Familiarity with EXCEL and PowerPoint a strong plus, along with GraphPad Prism. The candidate must be in an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree program in the Life Sciences with an interest in a future career in healthcare.
