We are looking for an energetic Computational Biologist to join our project team and ensure that computational biology applications on a High Performance Compute cluster are current, appropriate and sufficient to serve researchers’ needs. Our collaborative team consist of computational biologists and system administrators who take responsibility for providing guidance, support, training and advice on computational biology to researchers. You will also be expected to effectively communicate with researchers to answer questions, troubleshoot problems and develop appropriate computational strategies while remaining abreast of current and emerging computational biology technologies and tools. Qualified applicants must be detail-oriented, result-driven individuals who work well within team environments and have good interpersonal skills, as well as good client interaction skills. Responsibilities: Installing, configuring, managing, and updating applications to support the project with a focus on genomics applications Consulting and collaborating with system administrators to determine best system configurations for applications Designing and developing scripts, as well as, reasonable tests and example inputs for applications Developing and maintaining installation, configuration and operations procedures Providing user support to researchers assisting with answering questions, troubleshooting problems and developing appropriate computational strategies Developing and maintaining detailed and accurate documentation Keep up-to-date with current and emerging computational biology technologies and tools. Candidates must have: Familiarity with Linux/Unix, ability to write shell and Python scripts. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience presenting and/or teaching. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivation with good organizational, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Hands-on experience with a broad spectrum of high-throughput genomic analysis tools (e.g. Chip-Seq, ATAC-Seq, CRISPR analysis). Masters or PhD in the biological sciences. Desired skills are below. Candidates with some subset of these skills are encouraged to apply: Experience using clusters and batch systems. Experience compiling and building scientific applications. Familiarity with R. Familiarity with other programming languages. Understanding of bottlenecks associated with large-scale data analysis.
