The University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center (UWBC) is a synergistic blend of core service facilities, research and outreach activities. The Bioinformatics Resource Center (BRC), one of UWBC core facilities, is seeking to add a highly self-motivated individual to our team. This individual will be responsible for working with project personnel to implement bioinformatics and statistical methods for a myriad of project types; the primary focus of which will revolve around the current 2nd & 3rd generation sequencing platforms. This will involve scripting, exploration of parameter selections, summarizing large data in tabular and graphical formats, and providing detailed documentation of all methods used. This individual will work closely with a collaborative group to develop robust workflows that can be efficiently applied to similar projects. Many aspects of these analyses are computationally intensive requiring high-throughput infrastructure available at the BRC. MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Two years of statistics or bioinformatics experience working in single-cell RNAseq or long-read analysis experience (i.e. isoseq, assembly, Hi-C, genome annotation) is preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Linux and statistics languages. Working knowledge of scripting languages, and pipeline development experience. Teamwork and collaboration skills.
