Job Description:

Every immune system has a story to tell— the key is knowing how to listen. Our goal is to meaningfully improve people’s lives by learning from the wisdom of their adaptive immune systems. It’s a bold objective that we’re uniquely built to achieve. At Adaptive, you'll be challenged, you'll be inspired, and you'll be part of an innovative organization making a real impact on improving the quality of life globally. No matter what your role is, you'll find a diverse, team-driven, fun culture where your contributions truly count. Position Overview The Drug Discovery group at Adaptive is a multidisciplinary group focused on leveraging Adaptive’s immune medicine platform, TCR/BCR discovery cellular immunology capabilities and technology developments to develop differentiated, transformative therapeutics. The Drug Discovery group works cross-functionally to apply Adaptive’s core technologies, proprietary massive immunomics database, computational and machine learning models to advance existing key partnerships with Genentech and Amgen and evaluate new opportunities for platform extensions. The Drug Discovery group is seeking a thoughtful and driven Senior Computational Biologist to apply cutting-edge analytical methods and techniques to improve human health across diseases. The Computational Biologist role involves analysis, synthesis and interpretation of complex molecular and cellular immunology data, statistical modeling, machine learning, and scientific programming. The Senior Computational Biologist will support multiple projects that consist of immunosequencing data, antigen-TCR specificity and prediction, TCR and BCR chain pairing results, and cellular characterization. This role represents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and highly collaborative Drug Discovery group reporting to the Director of Business Development, Drug Discovery. Responsibilities Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design, conduct and document analyses in support of scientific objectives. Analyze large immunosequencing datasets using statistical analysis and machine learning techniques in a Python-centric cloud environment. Evaluate and synthesize cellular immunology data, including for example matching of TCRs to antigens at scale. Interpret and provide recommendations for new analyses and models that drive innovation. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and generate innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment. Work with biologists to define innovative features/signals in large-scale immunosequencing data that can improve assays or machine learning performance. Develop new algorithms and rapidly prototype new approaches to take best advantage of the type and scale of data being generated. Support Adaptive’s Drug Discovery partnerships through thoughtful analysis and presentation of results across programs and to internal and external senior leadership. Ensure clear synthesis, interpretation, and sharing of results to drive innovation, technology and platform improvements, and therapeutic product development. Be a problem solver: communicate well, ask questions, proactively eliminate bottlenecks, and be the person people go to when they want a job done right. Requirements Masters degree in related field and 10 years of relevant work experience or PhD in computational biology, statistics, bioinformatics, or related field and 2 years of relevant work experience. Experience with scientific computing on large datasets, preferably in Python. Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary teams. Strong, high-impact publication record indicating a sustained contribution to statistical/computational methods development. Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to illustrate problems and generate solutions. Adaptive Biotechnologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
