Job Description:

About us:

Founded in 2015, Deep Genomics is a drug development company that aims to revolutionize medicine by leveraging expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and genome biology. We have built the world’s first, and by far the most advanced, AI platform that is able to untangle the enormous complexity of RNA biology and find the best targets, mechanisms, and molecules.

The thesis here at Deep Genomics is that everyone, at some point in their life, will face a genetic condition, whether Mendelian or complex, and we aim to be there for them with a genetically precise therapy. We take immense pride in our team of people whose backgrounds span a diverse range of disciplines including those found in a traditional biotechnology company, as well as machine learning, laboratory automation, and software engineering.

Where you fit:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build software tools to support our world-class drug discovery and development team using cutting-edge technologies. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of biologists, machine learning scientists, and software engineers to design and build a continually evolving range of bioinformatics tools and supporting software.

Typical projects will include:

    • Enhancing our data ingestion service to handle larger and more varied datasets produced by an ever-wider range of laboratory hardware
    • Architecting reproducible workflows to download, clean up, and share very large bioinformatics datasets
    • Working with bioinformaticians and computational biologists to improve both the software they build and the processes they use to build it

What you bring:

    • Minimum three to five years of professional experience as a software engineer with Python
    • Candidates should be comfortable creating class hierarchies, using decorators, and constructing mock objects for unit tests
    • Significant previous experience in bioinformatics and genome analysis tools/processes (e.g. working with next-gen sequencing data, bioinformatics pipeline construction, interfacing with large-scale public datasets, etc)
    • Previous experience with cloud-based services such as AWS and Google Cloud
    • Maintaining a high bar for code quality, working methodically to eliminate duplication and keeping complexity to a minimum
    • Previous experience with providing guidance and support to a multidisciplinary team
    • A passion to improve human lives by radically advancing drug development

We also consider, but do not require, experience with:

    • SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and BigQuery
    • NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Firebase
    • Data analysis and visualization using R and the tidyverse

What We Offer

    • A highly competitive salary and meaningful equity compensation (ESOPs)
    • A wide array of company-paid benefits
    • Exceptional opportunities for learning and growth working alongside the world’s best team
    • An opportunity to work alongside a bright, collegial, highly motivated team working at the intersection of the most exciting areas of science and technology
Deep Genomics welcomes and encourages applications from people with special needs or in special circumstances. Accommodations are available on request for candidates in all aspects of the selection process.

Deep Genomics thanks all applicants, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
