Imagia Canexia Health is currently looking for an experienced computational biologist with expertise in epigenetics to join its team. The candidate in computational epigenetics will be part of our computational science team, which leads the bioinformatics research and development program at Imagia Canexia Health (ICH). Reporting to the Senior Computational Science Manager, you will develop software and methodologies to perform the analysis of genomic sequencing data using state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technologies to detect methylation markers for the cancer treatment and prognosis. You work independently as well as in collaboration with software programmers, other computational biologists,
This position is a full-time job based in Montreal or Vancouver with the possibility of telecommuting in hybrid mode.

You will be responsible for:
As a member of our team, you will have to:
- Evaluate and review tools developed externally for possible internal adoption.
- Work closely with the laboratory team to develop bioinformatics pipelines and methodologies to detect methylation markers from new test developments.
- Provide analysis and interpretation of methylation data.
- Work closely with the software team to integrate the new pipelines into the ICH IT platform and to optimize the pipelines.
- Evaluate the performance of algorithms in commercial and clinical samples.
- Develop, manage and document genome sequencing data analysis pipelines and other statistical algorithms and models.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new methods and algorithms for methylation analysis in cancer genome sequencing data.

The candidate we are looking for usually has a PhD in computational biology, computer science, applied mathematics or bioinformatics, as well as at least one year of experience in epigenetics. Any equivalent combination of education and experience could also be considered.
Requirements
- Proven record: of quality publications that you are ready to present to us.
- Research experience: Previous experience in the field of computational epigenetics and cancer research. Experience in analyzing whole genome sequencing data.
- NGS: Experience in the analysis or development of advanced genomic and/or next-generation sequencing methods.
- Outstanding Analytical Skills: Experience in developing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines.
- Attention to detail: Uncompromising meticulousness in performing analyses.
- Linux/UNIX: Experience working with command line interfaces.
- Coding: Proficiency in Python (preferred) or another coding language.
- Technology proficiency: 3+ years experience with standard NGS analysis tools such as samtools, alignment software and methylation call tools.
Assets
- Familiarity with fragmentomics
- Prior experience with ONT technology
- Experience with ML/AI techniques for analyzing large datasets
- Experience with GitHub and cloud computing such as AWS or Azure

About the position
Imagia Canexia Health is currently on the lookout for an experienced Computational Biologist with expertise in Epigenetics to join its team. The Computational Epigenetics candidate will be part of our Computational Science team, which leads the bioinformatics research and development program at Imagia Canexia Health (ICH). Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Computational Science, you will develop software and methodologies to perform analysis of genomic sequencing data using leading edge DNA sequencing technologies to detect methylation markers for cancer treatment and prognosis. You work independently as well as together with software programmers, other computational biologists, clinical geneticists, and laboratory personnel.
This is a full-time employment opportunity based in our Montreal or Vancouver office with the possibility of remote work in hybrid mode.

What you'll be accountable for:
As a member of our team, you will:
- Evaluate and screen externally developed tools for potential internal adoption.
- Work closely with the laboratory team to develop bioinformatics pipelines and methodologies to detect methylation markers from novel assay developments.
- Provide analysis and interpretation of methylation data.
- Work closely with the software team to integrate the novel pipelines in the ICH Informatics Platform and to optimize the pipelines.
- Evaluate the algorithm performance in commercial and clinical samples.
- Develop, manage, and document genome sequencing data analysis pipelines and other algorithms and statistical models.
- Keep up-to-date with novel methods and algorithms for methylation analysis in cancer genome sequencing data.

The preferred candidate generally holds a PhD in computational biology, computer science, applied mathematics, or bioinformatics., as well as at least one year of experience in Epigenetics. Any equivalent combination of education and experience could also be considered.

- Linux/UNIX: Experienced in working with command-line interfaces.
- Coding: Proficient with Python (desirable) or other coding language.
- Tech savvy: Experienced for 3+ years with standard NGS analysis tools such as samtools, alignment software, and tools for methylation calling.
