What’s in it for you? As a Biostatistician in the CLS Disease control group, you will provide statistical input for design, implementation, and analysis of disease control projects. In addition, you will apply a wide range of cutting-edge data analysis tools and methodology towards both publicly available as well as in-house generated data to provide novel insights and data driven hypotheses. You will also possess the ability to work with passionate colleagues from various fields, such as biology, biochemistry & chemistry, to drive development, implementation and maintenance of innovative computational tools to support research. You will be providing technical expertise and leadership to use advanced statistical methods. Your mission will be to: Drive incorporation of data science into the daily R&D practice at Bayer Crop Science making it a core scientific discipline next to chemistry, biology, biochemistry and agronomy. Gather, analyze, and model data and key performance indicators to develop quantitative and qualitative insights via statistical, machine learning, and other analytical models to enable better decision making. Be the expert responsible for experimental design, statistic guidance and statistical analysis of the biological screening processes to ensure optimal exploitation of experimental data. Analyze screening data from multiple test levels in lab and greenhouse with the final goal to predict performance in the field. Utilize and further develop biostatistics tools, image processing tools, workflows and databases to turn data into information to provide a sound basis for decision making Work with data engineers to integrate the analytical models and tools into the software ecosystem to deliver a seamless experience to the end user Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in data science and provide guidance and consulting for possible technical investments. PhD or Master degree with minimum 3 years experiences in computational or natural sciences, mathematics, physics or an equivalent qualification Experience in data science and (hybrid-) modeling of Life Science applications with knowledge in machine learning, image analysis, statistics, mechanistic modeling IT & programming or scripting skills, experienced with using high performance computing Open to learn experimental set-ups and challenges.
